Stetson Flyers Fall Cleanup

Its hard to believe that we are approaching the end of another summer of fabulous flying.  The Fall clean up signals the change in weather and on Monday October 7, a small but mighty crew came to help. The objective was to clean up after the summer, prepare the facility for the winter and to support the (brave) winter flyers!

This is the work that was accomplished:

  1. Secured the anchors of the large shelter.
  2. Removed the T post (tripping hazard) close to the 1st flight bench on east side.
  3. Cleaned both BBQ’s.
  4. Removed summer shelter and installed winter shelter.
  5. Removed over hanging tree along laneway close to the monument.
  6. Leveled the most westerly flight table.
  7. Added gravel to low spots along the laneway and parking lot.
  8. Cut and removed the overgrowth at the west end of the parking area and along the laneway.
  9. Stacked picnic tables under the larger shelter.

Thank you to the following members who freely gave of their time to make this work happen.  This is the reason why we have such a nice facility.

A big shout out to Gary who persevered cleaning the greasy BBQ’s. This was by far the dirtiest job!  And to Greg who cleared the overgrowth with a nasty-looking whipper snipper rotary blade! We also have some members who consistently attend the site clean-ups: Pierre, Fred and Daniel.  Thanks, guys, for your dedication!
Lastly, we hope that you consider doing some winter flying.  Nigel’s Tips and Tricks on successful winter flying will be coming soon. For new members who may not realize, we also have the January 1st flight and the March Fun Fly to look forward to, so outfit your planes with skis.
Happy flying!
